And this discussion actually helped me, as it reminded me to put my parrot outside to catch some air. He was too bored inside. :p

Using dogs as bait is quite a cruell thing seein it from the point of view of a normal humsn being; after all dogs have been some of mankinds greatest helpers of the last few thousand years. But then again in countries like china, where they eat cats and dogs, it does not seem very cruell after all. Also, some animal will have to get killed to become sharkbait. If it's not a dog, then maybe a cow or something like that.

@OffTopic: Cats have nine lives, so naturally they make the better pets.

That's a long time ago, plus dogs can help police (as user medeiros said) and I don't think the world today has bigger problems on mice than criminals.
