Off Topic Returning back on the previous folder Returning back on the previous folder
6 replies Hi. I would know how to return back to the previous to a folder. That's really on my VPS and it's freaky annoying to close putty and open it to return to the first folder. really annoying.
I would know a command about that. There should be a folder named "..." on the top of the files, double click it and it will return you to the previous folder.
Oh wait, you mean in Putty? My mistake...
Write help or /help and you may find it there cd ~ or cd /, depending on where you want to go I haven't used putty, but I know a few things about bash/sh:
Go to parent directory
Go to home (as stored in $HOME)
Go to base dir
Go to previous dir (as stored in $OLDPWD) Sometimes. before doing that. I write the top command to see some proccesses opened. then , whenever I write numeric numbers and etc... They does not appear (I mean not written) so I must restart putty.. Do you know, that you have to exit top with q?
