If you can't afford a game and you have to appeal over programs that aren't even made by you (the classic "hacker" kid who doesn't know how to do shit by himself)... i really wonder how the hell you're using a computer at this time.

Anyway, SteamGifts is probably, as already stated, a scam; don't try it.
A good way to get games for free is through Team Fortress 2 - although it can be a really hard work, you can collect good items by trading with profit, and then trading rare items for Game Tickets. Lots of people have been doing that, you just need to find someone willing to give a game for an exceptional item.

I've been using it for a while, haven't won anything yet though. You sign in to the website using the Steam Community, in a similar way you would login somewhere using Facebook, Twitter, or whatever. You don't need to always pirate things, actually owning something is quite nice. Also having your your account hacked by using the site is about as likely as having your Facebook account stolen by logging into Photobucket using Facebook.
