I did not find this information anywhere, so why is server tickrate limited to 64, and client fps limited to 60? it makes no sense to limit these items.
The game took 13 years to increase the FPS from 50 to 60 zzzz
Now that the competitive system will be implemented would be more than interesting, it would be necessary to increase such values so that one has a better gaming experience.

The problem is that the game was originally written with a cap in mind (which was admittedly a horrible decision). Most capping and static things have been removed by now but there might still be stuff that breaks when simply removing all caps. So this is a non-trivial change which may cause a lot of trouble and weird problems.

Moreover 60 FPS is a great value for like 95% of all players since most people have monitors with 60 hz. They wouldn't even benefit from higher FPS.

Plus we're talking about very subtle differences here. It's unlikely that you would easily notice a difference with higher tick rate if it wasn't displayed.

That's why these things are still capped. Especially with a stable Steam release in mind. Not worth risking major problems.

@user Gaios: In CSGO or any kind of 3D shooter you would notice obvious difference. However, yes... in CS2D there isn't really a lot going on and the camera movement is simplistic.
